3 collaborative platforms that you can not do without

There are, and are increasingly more so, numerous tools that facilitate user information exchange, sharing work and ideas, and fostering synergies with other professionals.

With Building Information Modeling , interaction between stakeholders is ongoing throughout the development of a project, since as the various professionals work on it, the corresponding documentation is updated in real time in a cloud-based data center .

This new way of working creates new collaborative realities, among which the emergence of platforms that facilitate feedback between stakeholders who need what others have and offer what others need stands out.

Teamwork, collaborative work, and working in BIM demand it!

OpenBrIM, BIM&Co, and  PARTcloud.net are three examples of collaborative platforms that have managed to generate a large following of pilgrims on their journey toward BIM.

OPENBrIM, A TOOL FOR BRIDGES

OpenBrIM is an open cloud platform designed for the bridge industry to streamline the organization and coordination of project stakeholders, foster a collaborative environment, and facilitate information sharing. The available data covers all phases of a bridge project, from planning, design, manufacturing, construction, and operation.

One of the platform’s essential requirements is that existing BrIM object definitions must be standardized and controlled by an independent industry consortium. The participation of the Federal Highway Administration, State DOTs, and all industry organizations has been crucial to the project’s success.

OpenBrIM Features

  • A free and open platform where there is no need to send files, but instead participants operate in a cloud data center where they can operate freely.
  • OpenBrIM Library is the space where the user can see if they have all the objects they need to represent a structure, as well as all the associated information.
  • OpenBrIM Library can contain physical objects as well as library requirements, rules, regulations, and properties.
  • All Open BrIM objects have defined parametric aspects, allowing them to be used in many other structures. If the necessary parameters are not available, they can be created by the user in an existing object or a new one can be created from scratch.
  • Only objects that have been evaluated by the stakeholders involved in the process are standardized. And only those that have been reviewed and tested by the community are designated as open standards.

BIM&CO, CONTENT CO-CREATION

BIM&CO is a free, cloud-based collaborative platform where all digital modeling stakeholders can create, publish, and use BIM objects from around the world. To date, a total of 1,242 BIM objects exist on BIM&CO.

All users can collaborate, co-create, exchange, discuss, and obtain feedback , producing the first global BIM object platform.

BIM&CO brings together all stakeholders: manufacturers, architects, technical offices, BIM managers, construction contractors, BIM object creators, and software application publishers.  BIM&CO Features

Uploading BIM objects and data to the  BIM&CO platform  is much more than sharing Revit, Archicad, or SketchUp files on a portal for other users to download.

  • It offers a set of functionalities, such as the use of digital mockups (multilingual processing, management of LODs, open system for managing standard properties, IFC compatibility, etc.).
  • By having a centralized cloud-based database, BIM data is immediately available to users and projects worldwide.
  • There’s no need to install any apps or store any data on the company’s servers.
  • It offers a hosting structure that allows manufacturers and the community to generate content for the digital model. The content on the platform is the result of the community’s work. The platform is aimed at both professionals and businesses, as well as anyone who wants to participate as collaborators. In this case, there is the option of becoming a content or software contributor.

PARTcloud.net

PARTcloud.net is a collaborative platform where users can publish and download 3D objects. It is a completely open space where users can share their models for commentary and download by other participants.

In addition to the object portal, there is a community where registered users can interact, participating in groups, accessing a store for manufacturer components, catalogs, and much more.

The section dedicated to BIM objects is managed on the BIMcatalogs.net website. Discover it by clicking here.
