Sustainability and innovation redefine construction at Construmat 2024
An extensive programme of activities for the various groups of professionals in the sector will make Construmat 2024 the best forum for debate and knowledge of the construction industry in a meeting that focuses on sustainability and innovation as major themes. From 21 to 23 May, Hall 2 of Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue will host the 23rd edition of a show that will also feature the entire ecosystem of Spanish construction.
Innovation, sustainability, industrialised construction, wood and concrete construction and more emerging initiatives will be the main protagonists of an event that has increased its exhibition space by 50% compared to the last edition and which has already confirmed the participation of leading companies such as
Alsina, Cementos Molins, Drutex, Eurofred, Fischer, Haier, Holcim, Hormipresa, Jung, K-Line, KLH, PMP, RD Luna, Roca and Schnell, among others .
Construmat 2024 will address the major challenges facing the sector through a comprehensive programme of activities for professionals, from conferences to masterclasses, forums and talks.
In this regard, it is worth mentioning the celebration of the
Sustainable Building Congress , a congress that will feature 50 presentations, 15 round tables and 120 speakers, and which will give visibility to the initiatives developed to minimise the environmental impact of construction activity to promote more sustainable and responsible construction. Decarbonisation and the circular economy, digital solutions and technologies and industrial construction systems are the themes of this congress, which will highlight the best practices and sectoral innovations.
This commitment to sustainability will be materialized with the construction of a three-story wooden house, designed by the Spanish-Mexican architect Alba Lucila Gutiérrez, with the name of
Casa Módulo Hábitat Mediterráneo . In addition, a concrete house will be built, which will demonstrate the advantages of industrialized construction as a new way of building that allows for faster construction times and optimized energy and resource consumption, as well as controlling expenditure in the different phases of the project.
Startups and innovation
Construmat will also showcase innovations from the sector in two new areas. The
PropCon Hub , a dynamic space that will give visibility to 25 start-ups that make use of digital technology in the fields of construction (ConTech) and property management (PropTech) and will present their business projects to potential clients, partners and investors. And the PropCon Hub Forum, where presentations by experts in construction innovation will be offered, from sustainable prefabrication to the use of Artificial Intelligence.
The workshops and demos area will host a series of sessions by the
Council for International Accreditation of Architecture and Design (CIAAD ), an official partner of the United Nations for the implementation and advancement of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) based in Dubai, and a Fisher certification session for Solar-Fix system installers, a preliminary step to the exam to obtain TÜV Rheinland accreditation.
A new edition of the prestigious Construmat Awards, curated by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation and incorporating the public prize for the first time, completes the programme of activities for Construmat 2024.
International markets
The show has also once again focused on international markets in the Mediterranean, such as Morocco and Turkey, countries that offer a wide range of opportunities for both large construction companies and smaller auxiliary service companies.
In this sense, Morocco will be the guest country of Construmat 2024, making
Barcelona the meeting point between the needs of the North African country and the companies of our country with the presence of an official Moroccan trade mission made up of seven companies, six federations of the sector and the colleges of architects and associations of builders and developers.
Construmat has the support of the main entities and associations in the sector such as
APCE Spain, ASEFAVE, AECOM, ANERR, CNC, CATEB, COAC, COAM, CGATE, CSCAE, Federation of Construction Guilds, Labor Foundation of Construction or IMHAB, among others .
