José Santos Castillo
Architect and BIM Specialist with a multidisciplinary background in architecture, construction, rehabilitation, sustainability and infrastructure. My professional work focuses on BIM modelling, multidisciplinary coordination, digital construction workflows and built asset lifecycle management, applying collaborative methodologies and information management principles aligned with ISO 19650.
I am a member of the buildingSMART Spain Chapter and hold the buildingSMART Professional Certification – Foundation, reflecting my commitment to openBIM principles, interoperability and the digital transformation of the AECO sector.
My experience includes BIM modelling for architecture, structures and MEP, CAD-to-BIM and Scan-to-BIM workflows, reality capture, technical documentation and coordinated digital environments using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and complementary BIM technologies.
Alongside my professional activity, I maintain a strong interest in research and innovation in the built environment. I am currently pursuing advanced postgraduate studies in BIM methodology, spatial planning and sustainability, with research interests focused on Digital Twins, GIS-BIM integration, infrastructure systems, urban resilience and information-driven approaches to the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure.
I believe BIM is more than a modelling methodology—it is a framework for integrating information, disciplines and decision-making throughout the lifecycle of the built environment.
