Circular economy: A new way to think and build Architecture – An innovation project

This master class will give a general introduction to circular economy. We will delve into the question of what a circular economy approach is, what does it look like, and how does it work. This will serve as the preamble to why we need a circular economy in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Industry, focusing on climate change induced disasters, temperature gains, materials and resource shortages, and the energy crisis. Once we have outlined the “what” and the “why” we will then unpack the vision and the life cycle mind-set we can apply through : an holistic approach, awareness, coherency, collective knowledge, design, production and construction. To conclude we will evaluate the real-life use case, the Humanitas Innovation Project developed in Switzerland. This will then be followed by an open forum questions and answers session.
