As Senior VDC Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical and leadership skills across a multitude of projects, lead and develop a team of VDC engineers, and contribute to world-class thought leadership.
This includes ensuring that projects incorporate BIM processes from the concept stage through design, construction, commissioning, and transition into maintenance and operations. VIATechnik is the global leader in Virtual Design and Construction. The firm’s services include Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Computational BIM, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Software Algorithms, and Integrations. The firm has recently partnered with the Stanford Center for Professional Development, a part of the Office of the Vice Provost, for Teaching and Learning at Stanford University to deliver a VDC Certification Program for the AEC industry.

In this role, you will:
Act as a strategic business partner/subject matter expert.
Establish and grow VIATechnik’s leadership presence nationwide by building relevant client and partner relationships and helping grow the team.
Lead the professional development of your subordinates.
Coordinate and manage a team of VDC Engineers, BIM specialists, and other project team members. Includes presenting scope and instructions to the team, ensuring all questions are answered, team output is received on time, and that team is producing high-quality work.
Lead the project management of complex VDC/BIM projects across the VDC spectrum.
Work with VIATechnik executives on strategic consulting services.
Serve as the primary interface to client and cultivate client relationships. Present work to the client. Conduct and/or actively participate in meetings with the client.
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Enhance VIATechnik’s goal of continuous improvement within our company, for our clients, and for the industry.
Support business development efforts, primarily targeted at mega-projects, general contractors, leading trade contractors, real estate developers, and Fortune 500 owners. Focus on relationship building and proposal phases of the sales cycle.
Responsible for ‘Net Promoter Score’ client satisfaction on projects.
Travel to the client site and other VIATechnik company locations.
Contribute to VIATechnik culture of professional development and knowledge sharing by participating in and leading training efforts.
Work with VIATechnik executives to expand partnership network of Venture Capitalists, start-ups, technology vendors, and academia.
Author thought leadership articles and white papers. Collaborate on company and partner research efforts to expand VIATechnik’s brand and knowledge-sharing in the industry.
Support industry education initiatives such as the Stanford + VIATechnik VDC Certificate Program and elevate the industry by presenting thought leadership at conferences.
Apply if you have:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Architecture/ Building Engineering related profession
7+ years of experience providing implementation, training, and support in BIM and VDC
Experience in combining and coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection on revised components and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of primary building systems – foundations, primary building structure and walls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, fire protection, specialty systems, conveying systems and interior finishes and the sequence of assembly of each
Availability to work out of our office in New York City when circumstances permit
Even better if you have:
Experience in leading online meetings and training sessions across remote project teams using platforms such as Asana.
Proven ability to create and manage complex commercial and industrial design project within Revit, Navisworks, BIM360, AutoCAD, and other supporting programs
Experience managing BIM and VDX across the project lifecycle including operations and facilities management.
Proven track record of effectively working with and/or managing teams remotely
The ability to work effectively in an extremely fast-paced, ambiguous environment
The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
Proven track record of team-wide leadership, owning team processes start to finish and taking ownership for team support and performance
Proactive and flexible attitude, willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach
