Aarhus, in the Jutland peninsula’s east coast (Denmark) is the chosen place to hold BILT Europe, the annual event run in multiple regions around the globe, designed to cater to the needs of those who design, build, operate and maintain our built environment. As a community of professionals, it is dedicated to improving the way industry works together.

As an educational and networking event, BILT provides a variety of opportunities to learn and share, to probe and challenge, to listen and to be heard. Its sessions focus on the use of best-in-class tools, processes, workflows, behaviours and leadership.

More than 70 international experts from leading companies worldwide, such as AECOM, ARUP, HKS, NIRAS, Autodesk, Synchro Software, coBuilder, CN3, Revizto, and much more, will present the latest technologies related to Building Information Modeling.

BILT Europe is more than a conference. It's a community of business leaders, thought leaders, innovators and implementers, that share the same passion and get together in a unique environment to share their expertise and to aid in the quest for a better, smarter industry, and a stronger, more sustainable built environment.

The event will also host the Vision 20/20 Competition, which is a fast-paced and fun look into the future, done live and judged by some peers in real time. As you can perhaps tell by the title, this competition is a chance to be a Futurist, presenting ideas about where professionals think the industry is going, or should go.

What Is This Year's Topic?

Beyond Automation. The future is coming and the pace of technology change is moving faster than the construction industry anticipated. We’re on the verge of the 4th industrial revolution with a new Era of Automation, where machines are entering into the intellectual work, making decisions in the form of artificial intelligence (AI). Besides replacing the dangerous and manual labor, and making daily jobs and tasks easier with computers and user-friendly interfaces, the knowledge work is also being automated.

Does this mean many of us will lose our value to the industry and will no longer be needed for our critical thinking and knowledge? Will we be competing for jobs with AI, or will we be augmenting our own capabilities to analyse the scale of data we now have available?”
