Project Objective

ViBIM executed this Point Cloud to BIM project for a client in the USA. The project included the creation of as-built 3D BIM models of a 9-story office building of 320000 square meters (SQFT). The team modeled all architectural, structural, and MEP elements i.e. facade, ceiling, framing, duct, pipe, conduit above ½ inches. All models required with LOD 300.

The client provided us with point cloud data in the file format of .rcs / .rcp for all three buildings. Besides, the team also received construction drawings that helped the team create 3D models with the exact building elements.

The solution

The team implemented Revit modeling parallel to the process of scanned point cloud data. To assure that the input data had no errors, the team processed the quality checks of data before modeling, and used Naviswork to perform QA/QC. The created 3D models met the exact technical requirements of construction drawings.

The deliverables were the files of Architectural, Structural, MEP Revit models of LOD 300.
