DESCRIPTION

Dragados, as part of the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) Joint Venture has been selected to construct the new Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project in Virginia. As the Project BIM Manager, you will serve as the technical 3D/4D modelling expert for the project, and be responsible for the development and implementation of BIM guidelines and standards across the project. You will play a key role in leading the coordination with other project personnel, including designers, subcontractors and owners and other relevant project stakeholders.

The multibillion dollar HRBT project scope will include: a new bridge-tunnel crossing, replacement of existing marine approach bridges, the addition of a third lane on 1-64 in each direction, and new bridge-tunnel complex that will accommodate 4 lanes of traffic for a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water and is expected to conclude in 2025.

Duties/Responsibilities


Manage Building Information Modeling (BIM)/Virtual Design in Construction (VDC) efforts throughout all phases of design and construction

Assemble BIM models created by designers, subcontractors, 3rd party model builders, etc., and supplement them with additional models, attribute data, embedded or linked files (e.g. commissioning, cut sheets, O&Ms, etc.), as needed

Provide model management for all BIM related tasks

Work with project teams to coordinate all relevant disciplines that are integrated into the model. This includes: Providing clash prevention analyses, Generating and tracking clash reports, assisting with the communication of results with other stakeholders (designers, subcontractors, etc.), Providing related assistance to the extended design team

Assist the extended project team by creating and managing 4D Sequence analyses for scheduling and visualization purposes, and updating of these analyses with actual start and end times as the project progresses

Provide logistics and/or safety models, 2D drawings and related documents as necessary to support project team

Support Project Execution Planning by ensuring that assisting developing BIM plans for project teams that meet any BIM related requirements in the owner contract, such as “As-Built Models”, and other project/design deliverables
Support construction operations by leading, or mentoring project personnel to lead the trade coordination process utilizing BIM.
Regularly review subcontractor BIM coordination schedules for compliance with the overall project schedule. Communicate performance metrics, such a volume of conflicts identified and resolved and status of subcontractor shop drawings
Participate in meetings with project teams and easily communicate issues, changes, and resolutions

Requirements 

Bachelor or Associate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (drafting, engineering, architecture etc.), coupled with a minimum of 10+ years of industry experience

High level of proficiency working with Microstation (OpenRoads/Geopak/InRoads) software is strongly preferred for this role. Revit and Autodesk Civil 3D experience is considered a plus

BIM experience in large-scale heavy civil projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, etc.) preferred.

3D & 4D Modeling experience required

Able to read drawings, specifications, codes, and other technical products and material specifications, as well as interpret and manage BIM contractual obligations

Project Automation and transportation design experience preferred

Previous experience leading a team within a multidisciplinary environment
