On the occasion of the first edition of Assises du logement, Julien Denormandie, Minister of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities, in charge of the City and Housing, signed with the construction sector Plan BIM 2022, which aims to accelerate digital transformation in construction. The State is mobilizing € 10 million under this plan.

The Government wants to support the construction sector in a digital way. The digitization of data, processes and services has become a pillar of the improvement of the daily life of the French and a major lever for economic development and growth. Digital construction is a guarantee of quality and economy in the act of building as well as in the operation and maintenance of structures. Its generalization will be a lever of competitiveness for the entire industry.

BIM 2022 (Building Information Modeling) aims to provide construction professionals with new methods to facilitate and improve the construction of buildings.

Two priority axes stand out in the plan:

  • Generalize and structure the BIM application in projects by accompanying and securing owners to define and frame their needs. The BIM Observatory will highlight the best practices of the players and capitalize on the know-how.

  • Accompany all the players to acquire the tools they need to work concretely in BIM, by defining the skills needed to acquire and supporting their rise in competence. The plan will support the development of poles of competence in our territories so that the actors in the field can take concrete ownership of these tools.

"The digital transition is not a prospect, it's a reality and an opportunity to seize right now. It must benefit all businesses in the housing sector and provide new services to professionals and users in all territories, "said Minister Julien Denormandie.

Since 2015, the State and the sector have been gathering around the digital development in the building sector within the Digital Transition Building Plan (PTNB). More than 50 actions have been launched to raise awareness, build skills and create confidence in the digital world, installing the plan as a reference in France and internationally.
