ViBIM implemented Point Cloud to BIM project for the American client. The scope of work was to create as-built Revit models for a 9-story office building of 3000 square meters (SQFT). Model all architectural, structural, and MEP elements i.e. facade, ceiling framing, duct, pipe, conduit above 1/2 inches.

The client sent us point cloud data in the file format of .rcs / .rcp for all three buildings with the file size of 1000GB . Besides, we also received construction designs. They helped us create 3D models with the exact building elements.

We executed Revit modeling parallel to the process of scanned point cloud data. To ensure that the input data had no errors, our team processed the quality checks of data before modeling.

Project Objectives

The project included creating as-built 3D BIM models of three same buildings with LOD 300. We modeled all architectural, structural, and MEP elements i.e. facade, ceiling, framing, duct, pipe, conduit above 1/2 inches.

Project Solution

We executed Revit modeling parallel to the process of scanned point cloud data. To ensure that the input data had no errors, our team processed the quality checks of data before modeling.

During the process of modeling, we used Naviswork to perform QA/QC. The 3D models created met the exact technical elements of construction designs. This was of value to the future use of the project team.
