DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
- Gatekeeper of all in-coming and out-going model and drawing information
- Work across disciplines to ensure an overall design fits together and satisfies each discipline’s individual requirements
- Troubleshoot all problems that arise in a rapidly changing digital coordination environment
- Develop engineer’s concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings, through direct communications
- Manage submissions and ensure proper QA/QC protocols are implemented
- Help teach engineers and new technicians the software skills necessary to be successful in their jobs
- Manager the work of others (engineers, technicians and external parties) when leading BIM production
- Represent Arup’s interests in external meetings, written, and oral/presentations
- Filter highly detailed model and annotative information into, logically organized, easy to read package
- Engage in the development of office or client BIM procedures/standards and facilitate their implementation into projects
Skills:
- Proficient in Revit or similar BIM building software
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar drawing production tools
- Knowledge of Grasshopper, Navisworks, Digital Projects, Tekla, 360 Glue, or other parametric, fabrication or coordination tools, would be useful
- Problem Solving - Tackle both large scale/conceptual level and detail/task level problems
- Adaptability - able to jump from project to project and stay abreast of all changes
- Communication – must be able to discern the meaning of what other professionals are saying (and describing) and also present information in a way that can be thoroughly considered and understood (i.e.: translating a vision into a workable model).
- Creativity – Inject “outside the box” or new thinking into both building design and drawing production challenges
- Efficiency – should see a thorough understanding of, or development of, all applications/tools/functions as key
- Time Management – must be realistic about how long tasks will take and reasonably assess if meeting specific deadlines will be problematic
Qualifications:
- Assoc/BS/MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar building design profession – would be useful, but not absolutely necessary
- Experience working in the building design/construction environment
- Interest and passion for all aspects of the built environment and how ideas become reality
