Research about 'The influence of Cloud Computing on BIM Level 3'

Cloud Computing will evolve and enable BIM Level 3 across the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

One of the key aspect of implementing BIM Level 3, which is also referred as iBIM, is Cloud Computing. Cloud Computing is described as a novel technology, which requires further developments within the construction industry.

The Cloud can be differentiated in BIM model in the cloud and BIM software in the cloud. Whereas a BIM model in the cloud is just for reviewing and management purposes, as it is already used. Real-time multi-access collaboration within a browser-based BIM environment, where no processing power of a personal computer is needed, is considered to be the future.

On this account, my dissertation with the topic 'The influence of Cloud Computing on the implementation of Building Information Modelling Level 3 (iBIM)' seeks to identify how Cloud Computing will evolve and enable BIM Level 3 across the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

The following questionnaire is part of the dissertation for the degree programme ´Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Project Management´ at the Queen´s University of Belfast.

I would like to encourage BIM professionals to participate this short (7-10 min) questionnaire about the future Cloud Computing possibilities and its influence on the implementation of BIM Level 3.

I highly appreciate each contribution to the survey and support for my research.
