DESCRIPTION

The Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking a BIM Leader. As a BIM Leader, you are knowledgeable of best practices and have a proven ability to lead BIM management and development, which will enable you to effectively drive a focused, leading edge BIM strategy to enhance our company’s vision.

Does this sound like you? If so, here are some of the more detailed responsibilities you can expect in this position:

Liaise with leadership and senior engineering teams on the strategic direction and vision of the BIM function for multiple disciplines. Communicate the Firm’s expectations to employees as it’s relates to BIM.

Develop, maintain and update company-wide BIM standards, documentation and templates as required.

Liaise with engineers to further understand the design flow process and the role of BIM in design with the goal of increasing efficiencies.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to BIM staff across all Smith + Andersen group of companies.

Manage educational offerings to enhance training on BIM software, processes and new technologies. Liaise with external vendors as required.

Organize and chair internal cross country BIM meetings including agenda development, record of minutes and progress updates to senior leadership team. Facilitate the relationship between disciplines and regional locations to further enhance and develop processes and tools.

Advance internal processes that will not require generating construction documents for project related purposes.

Participates in professional development through involvement in industry organizations and BIM initiatives, maintaining up to date knowledge of emerging technologies.

Provide deployment strategies for new software implementation efforts collaborating with internal IT department.

Assist IT department with user queries related to BIM and assist with the management of internal BIM chatroom.

Analyze the viability of an internal BIM development team in order to achieve the vision.

Where required, assist leadership team with human resources related activities, including staff recruitment, development, performance review, and team member relations.


A few more qualifications which will help you with these responsibilities:

Three to five years’ experience in a BIM leadership role.

Previous experience in a similar capacity within building services environment is preferred.

Expert level knowledge of BIM software with an understanding of the direction of BIM and its impact on building services industry.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Superior knowledge of Revit, Navisworks and other design relevant design software. Working knowledge of Dynamo is an asset.

Strong organizational skills and previous experience in needs analysis and the development of work strategies.

Self-starter, results driven and proven work record to execute vision, work plans and strategies.

Knowledge of the development of BIM families and templates.

Self-motivated to problem solve issues quickly, efficiently and creatively.

Strong relationship management skills to build strong team environment that encourages continuous improvement.

Willingness for limited travel to regional offices.
